How newborn sessions work

Secure Your Session

Most families book during pregnancy to reserve a place in my calendar, as I take on a limited number of newborns each month to ensure every family receives a calm, unhurried experience. A $150 non-refundable booking fee is required to secure your session date. This amount is deducted from your chosen collection.

We Schedule Around Baby

Once your little one arrives, simply let me know and we’ll choose the perfect session date (if the original booked date doesn't line up well) — usually within the first 2–4 weeks, when babies are still beautifully sleepy and curled. Flexibility is always built in, because your baby sets the pace.

Your Relaxed Studio Experience

Your session is slow, gentle and completely baby-led. There is always time for feeds, cuddles and settling — I never rush a newborn session. I provide a carefully curated selection of wraps, outfits and timeless props in soft, earthy tones, thoughtfully styled to create natural, heartfelt imagery. During your session, we’ll walk through the collection options so you can choose what feels right for your family. Payment is finalised at this time, before leaving the studio.

Selecting Your Images

After your session, you’ll receive a beautifully presented online gallery to select your favourite images from your chosen collection. Additional edited images and heirloom-quality prints are available if you wish to expand your gallery.

Treasure This Season

Your final edited images are delivered in high resolution, ready to print, frame and preserve for generations. These early days pass in a blur — your photographs become the piece you hold onto.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I book my newborn session?

The best time to book is during your second or third trimester. This allows me to reserve space in my calendar around your due date. Once your baby arrives, we’ll confirm the exact session date.

What age is best for newborn photos?

Newborn sessions are ideally held within the first 2–3 weeks of life, when babies are naturally sleepier and still beautifully curled. However, every baby is different, and lovely images can still be captured outside this window.

What if my baby doesn’t settle?

This is completely normal and never something to worry about. My sessions are slow and entirely baby-led, with plenty of time for feeding, cuddling and soothing. With over 13 years of experience photographing newborns, I gently follow your baby’s cues throughout the session.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just your baby, nappies and feeds. I provide all wraps, outfits, headbands and carefully selected props. If parents or siblings are being included, I’ll guide you beforehand on what to wear so everything feels cohesive and timeless.

How long does a newborn session take?

Sessions typically run for 1-2 hours. This allows time for feeding, settling and breaks. There is never any rushing — we move at your baby’s pace.

Can parents and siblings be included?

Yes, absolutely. Including parents and siblings creates beautiful connection-filled images and is always welcome. Signature and complete packages include this.

What if my baby arrives early or late?

That’s completely fine. Session dates are always flexible around your baby’s arrival.

What payment methods do you accept?

I offer several payment options to make the process simple and flexible for families.

Bank transfer and cash payments are the fee-free preferred option.

Online card payments via your invoice is available and incur a 2% processing fee, which reflects the charge from my payment provider.

Afterpay is also available for eligible purchases, allowing you to spread payments over time in line with Afterpay’s terms. 10% surcharge applies
